On the wrong bike, it would be a nightmare to pedal up in the ascending direction (applicable to those riders doing the route from north to south)

Annoyingly, this gate was locked at time of testing, but it was possible to wiggle and squeeze through. If coming from the north, i.e doing the route in reverse direction, take note that this is NOT the entrance to Spitzkoppe. You'll have to find a way around and enter at the official entrance to secure your permit and camping rights.
Van Zyls Pass Community Campsite
At the time of test riding, in Aug 2023, this camp site was closed, empty and there was no one around, and no water.
Okanguati
Several small shops and food stops. There was no functioning camp-site or guest houses in town, but there was an almost-functional camp site, seemingly still under construction, that allowed us to stay.

Gate
Access control to the Husab Uranium mine road. If you're coming up from the Khan River trail, exiting out here is straight forward. For reference, we just waved, smiled and rode straight through. However, if riding the route in reverse, you might be denied entry here, in which case, you'll miss out on the Khan River trail
